SASU Discipline

Index back to top

1. Introduction back to top

The following document outlines the various discipline procedures used within SASU. Discipline procedures are engaged whenever an individual breaks the SASU Rules of Conduct.

Generally speaking, disicipline procedures follow three tracks, based on the membership level of the offender:

  • Non-members face inclusion in the Persona Non Grata list.
  • Introductory free agents face immediate removal from SASU, at the discretion of the SASU officers.
  • Full members might be given warnings or strikes.

In every and all discipline cases, the discipline coordinator has the final word.

2. PNG - Persona Non Grata back to top

Any SASU non-member who commits an act that would be considered a violation of SASU rules can be given the status of PNG by a SASU officer, on the spot. Players who have been declared PNGs are not welcome in the SASU channel or on the SASU forums, and may not apply for SASU membership until their PNG status has been lifted.

After an officer has issued the PNG status, he must post about it on the Officers' discipline sub-board, detailing the incident that led to it. If no officer takes objection to the PNG, it is made permanent. Otherwise, the officers might debate the request for PNG. If no consensus is reached after a week, the final decision is made by the discipline coordinator.

A person who has been declared PNG may request that his or her status be reconsidered. Such a request will be discussed by the SASU officers, and might be granted if there is sufficient reason to believe that the offending individual has amended his or her ways.

3. Warnings back to top

Warnings are instant for violations in accepted behavior. They carry no consequences besides being recorded for a period of one year. Any Officer may issue them. They are issued on the spot and do not require a vote of Officers.

Officers who are going to issue a warning should follow the following steps:

  1. Inform the offender.
  2. Post that a warning was issued on the Officer board.

Warnings fall off after 1 year if there have been no further Warnings or Strikes.

4. Strikes back to top

Strikes are stronger warnings that behavior is clearly not within accepted boundaries. They may be issued by SASU officers as warranted by evidence. A Strike may additionally be accompanied by a ban not to exceed 30 days from the SASU chat channel. Any SASU member accumulating three strikes will be removed from SASU.

The subject of a Strike may request that the Discipline Coordinator convene a 3-member jury to hear an appeal of the Strike and to decide if the Strike is warranted. The Discipline Coordinator may decline to convene a jury based on preponderance of evidence. The D.C.'s decision is final, as is the jury's, if convened.

In extreme circumstances, any of the above steps may be skipped. Extreme circumstances would include ninjaing all the loot from a raid boss, real-life stalking, and other such blatant violations. These will always be discussed on the officer board before final action is taken.
