Over the past three weeks, I've diverted a significant amount of my playtime from World of Warcraft to another online game. I still intend to play WoW and attend raids, but I will be a lot less active than I used to be.
The Administrative Council has seen fit to request that I not step down as SASU Officer, but the SASU Officers as a whole acknowledge that my relative inactivity will leave a deficiency in the Free Agent Representation. We, the SASU Officers, are therefore creating a fourth Free Agent Representative position and are seeking candidates for the position.
If you can think of any Free Agents who would make a fine SASU Officer, please contact any existing SASU Officer with your suggestion and why you think the person suggested would make a fine SASU Officer.

Free Agent Representatives are responsible for providing the Free Agent point-of-view on any policy discussions amongst the Officers. Granted, the set of Free Agents and Introductory Members is a very varied lot, though there are sometimes (but not frequently) proposed policies that would pose problems for Free Agents that would be of less concern to members of SASU guilds. In the event of a disciplinary accusation by or against a Free Agent, a FAR will likely serve on the three-Officer jury convened by the Discipline Coordinator (unless the Free Agent has requested a different Officer). FARs are, by definition, SASU Officers and must keep confidentiality on certain matters. On general policy questions, though, FARs can solicit the opinions of the Free Agents. Additionally, SASU Officers are responsible for exemplifying the SASU Rules of Conduct, so offenses by an Officer are punished more severely than identical offenses by a regular member.
Anyone who would be a Free Agent Representative must be a Free Agent, preferably free of any serious Disciplinary actions on their record. There are no regularly-scheduled meetings of the SASU Officers; there never have been, but there's nothing stopping the Officers from having regularly-scheduled meetings in the future. Most Officer discussions are either on the restricted Officer boards or in the private in-game Officer channel. For discussions on the board, Officers post when they are able. Anyone serving as FAR should read the forums on a regular basis, as some matters require a timely response (most particularly disciplinary accusations against Free Agents). Finally, most SASU Officers have the power to grant Introductory Membership or sponsor someone to full Free Agent status. To keep the Membership Coordinator (currently Erstyx) from being overwhelmed, all Officers (including the FARs) should try to take care of membership applications.

Cogi, can you list the current FAR so people know whom to ask about the work?

Hmm...interesting. I second what Stavromoon said. Requirements, existing time in SaSU, experience in-game, etc. I know it can be pretty lose cause people are all different, but would be nice to have an idea.

I made a post about this on the officer boards recently. I'm going to paraphrase here, and if the other officers don't agree with me, they can smack me. Personally, I would appreciate having a fresh point of view in the officer corps. Most of us in there have been playing the game for years now, and have been involved in SASU for as long as we've been raiding. SASU is growing at a near rampant pace these days. I would love to have a FAR that uses the /sasu channel to fill out the majority of their groups. Many of the officers have been around long enough that we have a large pool of friends that we automatically pull from when we need people. A free agent that's been around long enough to know how SASU works, but hasn't been around since the "good old days" would be a great addition to the officers. (Ergo at least 6 months, but probably no longer than a year since you joined SASU.) Let me clarify: this is not a requirement for officership. I'm just tossing my 2 coppers out there. Len

i like all the parts in that except "uses the /sasu channel to fill out the majority of their groups". cause i dont get to lead raids at all and 5-mans are rare. =P
im interested in the job, but its hard to say whether id even be a possible candidate without a set of requirements agreed upon by the other officers. even a rough idea would be helpful.

The problem is that we do not have any set of prerequisites for those who would wish to become FARs. Rather, when choosing the new FAR, I believe we will ask ourselves the following questions: - Is this person knowledgeable of the general situations of the free agents, and thus able to represent their interests within the officership?
- Is this person regularly active in-game and out-of-game, and thus available when she is needed, as well as "in touch" with the realities of SASU?
- Is this person level-headed and trustworthy?
- Does this person have a desire to help with administrative tasks and the general SASU upkeep?
If you wish to volunteer and believe you warrant positive answers to all of those questions, then by all means, make your pitch here or in private messages, and the officers will consider your candidacy along with all others we might receive.

Well, I'm unsure of how to follow up with that. I've never really "campaigned" for a position. I find that I'm fairly active both in and out of game, try to be as civil as possible, and try not to do anything that would make people not trust me.
However, me saying that doesn't hold much weight. And I don't know a lot of regulars in SaSU to have them be able to speak on my behalf or back me up. So we'll just see what happens I suppose.

My guild is small, but we raid a lot with SASU. I wouldn't mind helping out. I moved to this server because of SASU!

I think it's great that you're both willing to step up and help. There's no real "campaigning" for these positions. But I did want to note that the Membership Coordinator is also looking for help. Since SASU is growing pretty fast there's some extra help needed with tracking free agents, showing new guilds the ropes, keeping records up to date, etc.
What I'd suggest is that you guys talk to the people doing the jobs (FAR and MC) now, see if it would interest you and what you'd need to do, and I'm sure we can find something mutually interesting.

Due to unseen circumstances, I'm currently ceasing my guild search and plans to transfer. If the decision still hasn't been made, I'd like to re-submit myself.
