Use of SASU resources, such as the in-game channel, the forums or the SASU bank, is reserved to SASU members. Obtaining SASU membership is easy, and does not involve changing your guild or raiding exclusively with SASU. If you want to get a better idea of what SASU is and what the advantages of joining are, consult the SASU FAQ.
SASU membership is obtained on a per-player basis: once any of your characters has obtained SASU membership, all of your other characters are also granted membership. The same goes for your SASU discipline record: strikes and warnings are cumulative amongst characters, and a suspension from SASU bars any of your characters from using any SASU resources.
First, please familiarize yourself with the various existing types of SASU membership. If you wish to personally join SASU, please consult the joining as a free agent section. If you are a guild leader wishing for your guild to join SASU, consult the joining as a guild section.
There are three types of SASU membership: introductory free agents, free agents, and guild members. All types of members are granted full access to SASU resources.
| Guild member | Any member of a SASU member guild is automatically a SASU member, unless that guild has additional restrictions. |
| Free agent | A free agent is a SASU member that is either unguilded, or part of a guild that is not affiliated with SASU. |
| Introductory free agent | Introductory free agents are the equivalent of SASU trial members. Introductory free agents can use all SASU resources, just as full free agents can, but do not benefit from three strikes protection. If a discipline issue arises with an introductory free agent, he or she can be immediately and permanently removed from SASU, at the officers' discretion. To become a full free agent, an introductory free agent must find a sponsor. |
To join us, follow this easy 4-step procedure:
Make sure you are not already a SASU member.
If you are a member of a SASU guild, then you do not need to apply to become a free agent. Consult the list of SASU guilds. If any of your characters is a member of any of these guilds, you are probably already a SASU guild member. In some cases, a guild may choose to only grant SASU membership to a subset of its members. Consult with your guild leader to make sure no such restrictions exist for you.
Read the SASU rules of conduct.
Take the time to familiarize yourself with SASU's Rules of Conduct. Knowledge of the rules contained therein is absolutely mandatory. Additionally, you might want to consult the following documents:
| SASU FAQ | Answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about SASU. |
| How to Sign Up for a Raid | Guide to signing up to one of the many SASU raids. |
| Discipline procedure | Details regarding the disciplinary process used when someone breaks SASU's rules. |
Contact a SASU officer to become an Introductory Free Agent.
Join the SASU channel in-game and ask for a free officer. The officer will verify that you have read the SASU rules of conduct and may ask a few basic questions. The officer will then grant you introductory membership.
In the event that you cannot find an officer in game, join the SASU forums, and post in the applications section. Start a new topic, and provide your character name, your guild name, and a short description of why you want to join SASU. An officer will then contact you and process your application.
Find a sponsor to become a Full Free Agent.
To go from introductory free agent to full free agent, you will need to find an officer willing to sponsor you. Do not go hunting for officers asking for sponsorship. As an introductory free agent, you can use the SASU forums and the SASU channel to hang out and seek groups. Get to know us and make friends! Once you've gotten to know other SASU members, you can ask them to provide testimonials for you if they are a regular member, or to sponsor you if they are an officer.
While officers are the only one who can grant sponsorship, regular members can provide testimonials for you. Officers review these testimonials, and might use them as a basis for granting you full free agent membership. To provide a testimonial for an introductory free agent, send in-game mail or a forum private message to a SASU officer explaining why you think the player you are vouching for would be a good addition to SASU.
Becoming a SASU member guild can be achieved thus:
Have some of your members join SASU as free agents.
Having your guild members join SASU as free agents will help them decide if SASU is the kind of organization they want to be a part of. It will also give SASU the occassion to assess whether your members are a good fit.
Once you are settled in as free agents, approach an officer about obtaining guild membership.
If you find your experience within SASU to have been profitable and pleasant and you wish to go forward with guild membership, contact an officer and ask them about obtaining guild membership. You can either go to one of the officers you are most familiar with, or contact our membership coordinator.
If the officer you contact is comfortable doing so, he might sponsor your guild on the spot. Otherwise, you will be assigned a case-worker, who will work with you until he feels comfortable sponsoring your guild, or rejects your application.
The SASU officership will validate your guild's membership.
Once an officer has sponsored you, you guild's membership will be announced internally to the officership. If no one raises any objection within one week of the announcement, your membership is made official.
